SAFED Nears Completion
April 2010 As part or our commitment to driver training, road safety and reducing our carbon footprint, most of our drivers have now successfully completed the one-day SAFED driver training course, with those who have yet to complete the course, eagerly waiting to discover the benefits for themselves. SAFED, Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving is a training programme set up by the Department for Transport. The course, run by our two SAFED trainers, Jamie Brown (General Manager) and Richard Matthews (Training Manager), has been used by some or our drivers as part of their drivers' CPC accreditation. Steve Allen, a Princess driver since 2006 said "SAFED is a good course, which gave me the knowledge to improve my driving skills." Training Manager, Richard Matthews added, "I am pleased we have commited to this training course and the improvements the drivers have shown. Through this training we are able to focus our main objective of safer driving which, in turn, will lead to improved CO2 emissions and lower fuel consumption."
